Periods and Fatigue: A Link Too Often Underestimated

80% of women report feeling tired during their period

and most of them say their quality of life is affected during this time. Nearly one-third even avoid physical activity while menstruating. Yet this recurring discomfort is still too often dismissed.

Every month, a woman loses between 30 and 80 ml of blood – which represents about 15 to 40 mg of iron. These losses matter, especially when the daily iron requirement for menstruating women is 11 to 16 mg.

When this loss is not compensated through diet or supplementation, the risk of iron deficiency – or iron-deficiency anemia – increases. This leads to a persistent fatigue, often installed without understanding the true cause.

One key benefit of FEMINA CYCLES is its excellent tolerance — it’s gentle on the stomach, even with regular use.

There are two ways to use it depending on your needs:

  • Targeted intake around your period:
    If you tend to feel tired just before your period, you can take it during this time — for example, 5 to 10 days per month, starting a few days before your expected period.

  • Continuous supplementation:
    If you have a confirmed iron deficiency, a low-iron diet, or you feel regularly fatigued (even outside of your period), daily use can help replenish your iron stores. In this case, we recommend SPIRUL-1®, which provides the same dosage of iron and is available in packs of 30 or 90 tablets for long-term use.

FEMINA CYCLES is intended to be used as needed, depending on your level of fatigue. It is not necessary to take it every cycle.
However, if you have experienced iron deficiency in the past, you may benefit from taking FEMINA CYCLES during your period each month as a preventive measure, to support your iron intake during blood loss.

During adolescence and perimenopause, hormonal fluctuations often cause irregular and/or heavy menstrual bleeding.
If you’re feeling fatigued during this period and your periods are frequent or heavy, we recommend long-term daily supplementation.
